On a ride back from practice about a week ago James mentioned to the group that he had an incredibly cool idea. He wanted to film a live performance of a new, unreleased song in our studio. We tossed the pros and cons of it around for a few minutes before reaching the general consensus that it would indeed be an excellent method of presenting a new tune to the world. Not only would it get a previously unrecorded song out to our fans, but it would do so in an aesthetically pleasing, and unique manner. Studio music videos are not a new concept, but then again, they aren’t exactly common. In any event, we thought it would be a cool way to give back to the people who keep us on the road.
Over the next few days we ironed out the finer details of the project and presented our idea to Ben, who would man the cameras and edit the video for us. Our initial goal was quite modest; a camera or two -essentially static angles- and a quickly mixed audio take. Ben, however, envisioned the project differently. Never wanting to take the easy or unprofessional route, he rounded up five cameras and some killer editing software, fancied up the studio, tossed some really cool lights around for atmosphere, and made what could have been a neat, but slightly dull, video into something with style and appeal. A week later, after a lot of mixing, editing, and hard work, we now have the final project to present to you. We hope you enjoy it.
